  1. A68\frac{6}{8}
  2. B912\frac{9}{12}
  3. C34\frac{3}{4}
  4. D1216\frac{12}{16}
  5. E43\frac{4}{3}

WORKED EXAMPLE

Solution

We find the greatest common divisor of the numerator and the denominator: EKUB(36,48)=12(36,48)=12. Since 36=12⋅336=12\cdot3 and 48=12⋅448=12\cdot4, we obtain 3648=34\frac{36}{48}=\frac{3}{4}. For the fraction to be irreducible, the numerator and the denominator must be divided by exactly the greatest common divisor.
