Solution

24⋅9+16⋅9=(24+16)⋅9=40⋅9=36024\cdot9+16\cdot9=(24+16)\cdot9=40\cdot9=360 and 40⋅5=20040\cdot5=200. Therefore, 360−200=160360-200=160. More briefly: 40⋅(9−5)=40⋅4=16040\cdot(9-5)=40\cdot4=160.
